Sycamore adventure wins national award
National award won for frontline playwork

I have great delight in informing you that Sycamore Adventure Playground in North Dudley have won a National Playwork Award for Frontline Playwork at the National Playwork awards and Conference this week. The award scheme recognises the very best in play provision across the United Kingdom. The award was sponsored by the International Playwork Association.
Ali Wood, (a playwork author, assessor, facilitator, examiner and long-time practitioner), was one of the judges on the panel for the Front-line Playwork award and kindly gave reasoning for Sycamore Adventure gaining the award: “It was a difficult decision as there were some great playgrounds and projects that are all doing fantastic work and going the extra mile. But Sycamore Adventure Playground did stand out as an organisation that had worked really hard at getting the balance right between making themselves increasingly sustainable whilst still putting children not just first, but at the heart of all they do. It’s an amazing much loved and much needed place and is doing sterling work – they really deserve this recognition for their practice”.
Sycamore Adventure now boasts three National Playwork Awards in recognition of “Frontline Playwork”, “outstanding Playwork Provision” and “Playwork Team”. Winning the award couldn’t be better timed, as Friends of Sycamore Adventure have developed a Business Partnership Pack which is due to be launched imminently.
